HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – Florida state troopers were at the scene of a crash involving a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputy Friday morning, according to WTSP.

The accident involving the deputy’s patrol car and a pickup truck occurred in the area of State Road 60 and Adamo Drive at about 7:30 a.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the deputy was driving west on SR-60 for a service call when the pickup truck driver made a left turn into his path at an intersection. The vehicles collided and both crashed into poles.

The driver of the pickup, a 74-year-old man from Spring Hill, was seriously injured and transported to an area hospital. The deputy, a 33-year-old Riverview man, sustained minor injuries. Their identities have not been released.

The sheriff’s office issued a traffic alert advising drivers to avoid the area, as westbound lanes at E. Adamo Drive were closed at Currie Davis Drive.
