PASCO COUNTY, FL – Two people died and another was hospitalized following a collision in Pasco County Wednesday evening, reports Fox 13 News.

The accident, which involved three vehicles, occurred on U.S. 19 north of Beach Boulevard shortly before 5:40 p.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol said an 81-year-old Virginia woman lost control of her SUV while driving south on U.S. 19. The vehicle entered a median and struck a construction barrel, which then hit a sedan driven by a 24-year-old woman from Hudson. The sedan driver veered into traffic, and a car that swerved to avoid the sedan ended up hitting the SUV instead, causing the SUV to roll over.

A passenger in the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene, a 52-year-old man from Hudson whose name was not released. The driver of the car that slammed into the SUV, a 54-year-old Hudson man, was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

The 81-year-old driver of the SUV was hospitalized with serious injuries.

State troopers are continuing their investigation into the accident.
