TAMPA, FL – State troopers were on the scene of a head-on, wrong-way crash in Tampa early Tuesday morning that left two women dead.
According to WFLA, an SUV and a sedan were involved in the collision on Dale Mabry Highway north near Hunt Road at about 3 a.m.
A 24-year-old woman was driving an SUV south on the highway when she entered the northbound lanes for an unknown reason, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The vehicle slammed into a sedan driven by a 23-year-old woman from Tampa. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
The northbound lanes of Dale Mabry Highway have reopened after being shut down for several hours for the crash investigation.
