TAMPA, FL – One driver was killed and another injured when they were involved in a wrong-way collision on a highway south of Tampa Sunday morning, according to WTSP.
The Florida Highway Patrol said a 20-year-old Tampa woman was driving a Chevrolet north in the southbound lanes of U.S. 41 near Old U.S. 41 at about 7 a.m. She collided nearly head-on with a Nissan driven by a 21-year-old woman from Thonotosassa.
The Tampa woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other driver was critically injured and rushed to an area hospital. It was not immediately clear why the first driver was traveling in the wrong direction.
