SARASOTA, FL – Police said nine people were rescued after a boat caught fire on the Sarasota Bay, according to a report by WWSB.
Sarasota Police and rescue crews responded to the 24-foot personal boat after it went up in flames Saturday morning near the 10th Street boat launch. Nearby boaters also provided assistance, and the nine people on board were safely brought to the shore. There were no reports of injuries.
Officials said the vessel had some sort of mechanical failure and sunk in the bay. The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.
