TAMPA, FL – A woman facing criminal charges in connection with a fatal crash in Tampa last month will be held without bond while awaiting trial, Fox 13 News reported.

This is an update to a previous story.

At a pre-trial detention hearing on Monday, a judge decided that 24-year-old Jennifer Carvajal, who is charged with DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide, will remain at the Falkenburg Road Jail. Authorities say Carvajal was driving while intoxicated and was going at speeds up to 111 miles an hour when she crashed into the parking lot of a local car dealership on April 25.

A passenger in the car, Carvajal’s 22-year-old cousin Pedro Carbajal, was killed in the wreck. Two other people were seriously injured. Prosecutors told Judge Catherine Catlin that Carvajal should not be released from jail at this time because she poses a threat to others, and also because of her prior record.

Carvajal was on probation for driving drunk in another fatal accident in Hillsborough County in 2014.  The defense said it would not contest the prosecution’s request.
