Bicyclist killed in collision with pickup truck in Polk County

NORTH LAKELAND, FL – A crash in Polk County early Wednesday morning claimed the life of a bicyclist, WFLA reports.

It happened in North Lakeland on Kathleen Road between Raulerson Road and Campbell Road, where the bicycle collided with a pickup truck at about 5:45 a.m. The bicyclist, who was not immediately identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

There was no word on whether the pickup driver was injured in the incident. The truck ended up on the side of the roadway with damage to the front passenger side.

Kathleen Road was shut down to traffic for several hours while Polk County authorities investigated the accident.
