MADEIRA BEACH, FL – The body of a missing boater was located following an accident in Madeira Beach, Fox 13 News reported.

The victim was identified as 33-year-old Dwight Haggins. He was riding along with three other people in a dingy that had been launched near Madeira Beach Fundamental Elementary School at about 11:10 p.m. Friday night.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said the dingy started to take on water and sank near the school. The three other people in the boat, including Haggins’ 6-year-old son, were able to get back to shore. But Haggins, who was not wearing a life jacket, was unable to make it back and his body was recovered Saturday morning by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit.

The Coast Guard, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office had all been involved in the search for Haggins.
