NEW PORT RICHEY – A collision on Rowan Road in New Port Richey left a motorcyclist dead and his passenger injured, The Suncoast News reports.

The incident happened at the entrance to the Carlton Arms of Magnolia Valley apartment complex, shortly before midnight Sunday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 48-year-old man was riding a motorcycle south on Rowan Road near Notre Dame Drive when he was unable to negotiate a curve and entered the northbound lane. The motorcycle collided with a northbound sedan driven by a 27-year-old St. Petersburg man.

The motorcyclist and his passenger were rushed to an area hospital. The motorcyclist, a Holiday resident, was pronounced dead while the passenger, a 50-year-old woman from Hudson, was in serious condition.
