HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – A collision involving a pickup truck and an SUV in Hillsborough County left both drivers dead, state troopers said.

According to WTSP, the crash took place early Saturday morning on U.S. 301 in the area of St. Francis Lane in Thonotosassa.

Investigators with the Florida Highway Patrol said a 29-year-old man was driving a pickup truck north on U.S. 301 at about 4 a.m. when he crossed over the center line for an unknown reason. The vehicle entered the path of an SUV and the vehicles collided nearly head-on. The SUV overturned, going off a bridge and landing in a ditch.

The pickup driver, a Dade City resident, and the SUV driver, a 61-year-old man, were both pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities were not released.
