PASCO COUNTY, FL – A car collided with a horse-drawn carriage in Pasco County Wednesday night, leaving a horse dead and two people injured.

WFLA reports the incident occurred as the carriage was going west on Bowman Road near Milestone Drive at about 9:20 p.m. According to the Florida Highway Patrol the driver of a Ford Focus rear-ended the carriage, which did not have its tail lights on at the time.

The carriage ended up on a shoulder of the road after the crash, and the horse died at the scene. Two men in the carriage were hospitalized with serious injuries, the 26-year-old operator and his 39-year-old passenger. Both are Spring Hill residents.

Troopers said the carriage operator was cited for not having the tail lights on.
