PINELLAS PARK, FL – Police say two people were killed in a car accident in Pinellas Park over the weekend, Fox 13 News reports.

The victims were riding in a Corvette on MCI Drive at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday night. According to police, the driver was unable to negotiate a turn in the 10100 block of the roadway. The vehicle then went off the road and slammed into a tree.

Both the driver and the passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities were not immediately released.

Police were investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal wreck, and it was not yet known whether impairment was a contributing factor.
