TARPON SPRINGS, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol says a man driving under the influence caused a crash in Tarpon Springs that killed two people riding a tandem bicycle, reports The Suncoast News.

31-year-old Cory Robert Corrado of Port Richey was arrested following the incident, which occurred Tuesday night on Keystone Road near Meadows Drive at about 5:50 p.m.

Investigators determined that Corrado was driving an SUV east on Keystone Road and passing other vehicles in a no-passing zone. As another SUV driver tried steering away to avoid a collision, Corrado’s vehicle hit the other SUV, causing it to overturn. The overturned vehicle then went across a bicycle trail and crashed into a tandem bicycle, according to the FHP.

The two people riding the bike, a 58-year-old Odessa man and a 50-year-old Odessa woman, were both pronounced dead at the scene. Corrado and the other driver, age 33, sustained minor injuries.

State troopers arrested Corrado on charges of vehicular homicide and two counts of DUI manslaughter (drugs).
