Driver killed in collision with tractor-trailer at Hillsborough County intersection

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – A driver was killed when his vehicle collided with a semitrailer in Hillsborough County over the weekend.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, the victim was a 30-year-old man from Tampa who went through a red light at an intersection shortly before 5 a.m. Saturday. The Florida Highway Patrol said the man was driving a car on Turkey Creek Road and did not stop at the traffic signal while approaching State Road 60. His vehicle crashed into the back of an eastbound semitrailer. The driver of the car, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle and died after being taken to an area hospital.

The truck driver, a 62-year-old man from Lakeland, was not injured.
