News: Driver killed when semi hits pickup at intersection in Lakeland

LAKELAND, FL – Authorities said one person was killed and two others injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Lakeland on Tuesday.

 

The incident happened in the vicinity of County Line Road and Ewell Road, according to WTSP. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said 63-year-old James Reynolds of Valrico was driving a Dodge Ram pickup truck at about 1 p.m. when he drove through a red light and was struck by a semi, which had a green light at the time. Reynolds’ vehicle then hit a car that was stopped at the intersection.

 

Reynolds was pronounced dead at the scene. Two people in the car sustained minor injuries, a 71-year-old woman and a 91-year-old man.

 

The area near the crash scene was shut down for about four hours while deputies investigated.
