MANATEE COUNTY, FL – Authorities are searching for the driver responsible for the death of a pedestrian in Manatee County.

WWSB reports the victim was a 72-year-old man who was hit by a car while crossing six lanes of U.S. 41 near 58th Avenue West on Monday morning. Paramedics declared the man dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver involved in the crash fled the scene afterwards and is now being sought.

Anyone with information regarding the hit-and-run incident was asked to contact the FHP.
