TAMPA, FL – One person was killed and two others injured after a collision on Interstate 275 in Pinellas County on Tuesday night, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a man was driving a sedan at high speed on I-275 south near Gandy Boulevard when he struck another car from behind at about 10:10 p.m.

The impact knocked both vehicles off the roadway and onto a shoulder. The sedan crashed into a light pole and a tree, then went up in flames. The driver, a 26-year-old man from Tampa, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a 22-year-old Tampa man, was seriously injured.

The other car involved came to rest on the shoulder and that driver, a 25-year-old St. Petersburg man, sustained minor injuries.
