PINELLAS COUNTY, FL – The Florida State Patrol said a crash involving a wrong-way driver in Pinellas County Monday morning left three people injured.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, a man was driving east in the westbound lanes of 54th Avenue North shortly after 5:30 a.m. State troopers said he slammed head-on into a westbound vehicle driven by a 32-year-old St. Petersburg woman, with both vehicles coming to a stop in the westbound lanes of the roadway.

The woman was pregnant and miscarried, after efforts at the hospital to save her baby were unsuccessful. She and a 34-year-old man in her car were seriously injured in the crash. The driver of the other vehicle, a 46-year-old man from St. Petersburg, sustained minor injuries.
