DUNEDIN, FL – According to ABC Action News, a deputy was injured after they were struck by a hit-and-run driver at Skinner Blvd and Highland Ave sometime Wednesday.

Deputy Elizabeth Temple was conducting a traffic stop on a white Ford Van when she saw a vehicle in the eastbound lanes of Skinner Blvd heading her way.

Temple attempted to get out of the way of the vehicle, but she was hit by the driver’s side mirror. The car then continued driving on eastbound Skinner Blvd.

Emergency crews transported Temple to an area hospital with minor injuries.

Investigators determined Jonathan Chinchilla, 32, was behind the wheel of the vehicle. Deputies eventually found the car at Chinchilla’s residence. He was charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving injury and arrested.
