AUBURNDALE, FL – A young man died after his motorcycle was involved in a traffic crash at an intersection in Polk County on Thursday evening, police said.

According to the Daily Ridge, officers responded to the scene in the area of Magnolia Avenue and Main Street in Auburndale shortly before 7 p.m. Police said 20-year-old Vincent Dewert of Lakeland was operating a Harley Davidson motorcycle behind a vehicle that was stopping for a yellow light. Investigators determined that Dewert went around that vehicle and ended up in the path of a Cadillac XT4 that was turning with a yellow signal onto Main Street. The motorcycle collided with the Cadillac, and the impact sent the bike across Main Street into a Ford F150 pickup.

Dewert was pronounced dead of his injuries after being transported to Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center. No other injuries were reported.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing, and anyone with further information about what happened was asked to contact the Auburndale Police Department.
