PINELLAS COUNTY, FL – Police in Pinellas County are searching for a hit-and-run driver after a man in a motorized wheelchair was fatally struck early Friday morning, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The Florida Highway Patrol says the man was struck while in a crosswalk on Ulmerton Road at 34th Street North shortly after 12:30 a.m.  The 58-year-old victim was from Holiday, but his name has not yet been released.

The vehicle that hit him and left the scene was described as a white 2012 Honda Civic EX or EX-L that had been going west on Ulmerton Road. The FHP said the victim was traveling against a red pedestrian do not cross sign when he was hit.
