PINELLAS PARK, FL – Police in Pinellas Park said a pedestrian was hospitalized after being hit by a police SUV on Thursday afternoon.
According to a police news release, the incident happened at 7561 49th Street N in the rear parking lot of a business at about 4:15 p.m.
The man who was hit was seriously injured and taken to an area hospital. His identity was not immediately released. The police officer, who was driving a fully marked Chevrolet Tahoe, was not hurt.
Pinellas Park Police Traffic Homicide Investigators responded to the scene of the incident and the investigation was expected to last for several hours.
