WINTER HAVEN, FL – State troopers say a motorcycle and a sedan were involved in a fatal collision in Winter Haven Wednesday evening.

The Daily Ridge reports the incident occurred at the intersection of 1st Terrace NW and Avenue D NW. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 38-year-old woman was driving a sedan southbound on 1st Terrace NW at the same time a motorcyclist was going west on Avenue D NW.

Investigators said the sedan driver failed to stop at the intersection and entered the path of the motorcycle, causing the bike to hit the left side of the vehicle. The motorcyclist, a 56-year-old Winter Haven man, died of his injuries after being taken to a local hospital. The driver of the sedan, a Lake Wales resident, sustained minor injuries.

There was no immediate word on whether any charges would be filed in the crash.
