PASCO COUNTY, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a deadly multi-vehicle collision in Pasco County Tuesday morning, the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The incident took place on State Road 52 near the intersection with Hicks Road at about 10:30 a.m. According to the FHP, a 63-year-old driver was headed east in the left lane on State Road 52 when she began to turn with a flashing yellow left turn arrow sign. The woman turned into the path of a sedan driven by a 93-year-old man. The woman’s car was struck and then spun into the right lane of the roadway, where it hit the back of a sport utility vehicle.

An 88-year-old Hudson woman who was a passenger in the 93-year-old man’s car was pronounced dead after being taken to an area hospital. The 63-year-old driver, a Holiday resident, and the 93-year-old driver, a Hudson resident, were both seriously injured. A female passenger in the Holiday woman’s car was also seriously hurt.

The SUV driver, a 33-year-old Land O’Lakes woman, and her passenger, a 57-year-old Land O’Lakes woman, were not injured.

Portions of State Road 52 were shut down for nearly five hours following the wreck.
