HOPEWELL, FL – A 33-year-old North Lauderdale man was killed as the result of a street race on State Route 60 Monday evening.

The crash happened at around 10:25 p.m., as two vehicles were racing on Eastbound SR 60 near Cassels Road, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Authorities identified the deceased driver as Stevenson Kirby Louis Jeune. Jeune was pronounced dead at the scene. He was driving one of the two vehicles involved in the street race.

The driver of the other car was identified as 18-year-old David Salomon Guevara. Guevara was taken to Brandon Regional Hospital for injuries, where he was later arrested. He faces charges of vehicular homicide, racing, and reckless driving.

Guevara lost control of the vehicle during the race and collided with Jeune’s vehicle. A third vehicle was nearly hit in the collision.
