WESLEY CHAPEL, FL – An elderly driver was killed when two cars collided at an intersection in Pasco County last week, authorities said.

According to the Tampa Bay Times , the cars crashed in the area of State Road 56 and Meadow Pointe Boulevard in Wesley Chapel at about 9:10 p.m. Wednesday. One of the drivers, a 79-year-old woman from Wesley Chapel, was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

Five people in the other car, all Zephyrhills residents, were hurt in the incident. The 27-year-old male driver and a 3-year-old female passenger were seriously injured.  Three other passengers sustained minor injuries: a 23-year-old woman, a 19-year-old man and a 1-year-old boy.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the two cars had entered the intersection at the same time, but it was unclear which traffic light the two drivers had.
