ST. PETERSBURG, FL – A fatal pedestrian accident shut down lanes on Gandy Boulevard in St. Petersburg early Thursday morning, Fox 13 News reports.
The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the crash, which happened near San Martin Boulevard at about 6 a.m. Troopers said a 54-year-old St. Petersburg man was walking in the area when he entered the path of a pickup truck. The man was struck and killed. His name was not released.
Westbound lanes were closed for the accident investigation, and traffic was affected for several hours. Drivers were advised to take the Howard Frankland Bridge as an alternate route.
