CLEARWATER, FL – A pedestrian died after being hit by a pickup truck on a roadway in Clearwater Friday night, reports the Tampa Bay Times.

 

The victim was identified as 45-year-old Michael Patte of Woodstock, Illinois. According to Clearwater police, Patte was walking across Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard near South Lake Drive at about 10:20 p.m. when he was struck by a Ford F-250 pickup.

 

Patte was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators said he was not using a crosswalk and was wearing dark clothing at the time of the accident.

 

The driver of the pickup, a 22-year-old Clearwater man, stayed at the scene and was reported to be cooperating with investigators.

 

All lanes of Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard were shut down in the area for the crash investigation.
