SARASOTA, FL – Police in Sarasota reported they were on the scene of an accident that injured a pedestrian Tuesday morning.
The person was hit by a vehicle on Fruitville Road between Central Avenue and Lemon Avenue at about 7 a.m. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, police said.
The driver stayed at the scene after the crash nd was said to be cooperating with investigators.
Fruitville Road was shut down in both directions from Central to Lemon for the investigation before reopening later in the morning.
