TAMPA, FL – Authorities say a man is under arrest in connection with a crash that killed a motorcyclist in the parking lot of a Tampa apartment complex.
The Tampa Bay Times reports Laramie VanTreeck was arrested Wednesday on a charge of DUI manslaughter for the Feb. 3 incident. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, VanTreeck was driving a Dodge Ram 1500 on Solano Bay Loop when he turned into the path of a motorcyclist at The Preserve at Mobbly Bay Apartments. The 33-year-old motorcycle rider, whose name was not released, was dragged under the pickup and pronounced dead later at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
The sheriff’s office said a blood sample taken from VanTreeck showed his blood alcohol content was above Florida’s legal limit. He was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail and released Thursday on $40,000 bail.
