News: Pinellas car collision leaves 83-year-old driver seriously injured

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL – An elderly driver was seriously injured when his car collided with another vehicle in Pinellas County Saturday morning, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

The 83-year-old man was driving north on US-19 when the accident occurred at about 11:30 a.m.  The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver was about to make a left turn into Harbor Freight Tools when he entered the path of another car.  The second car, driven by a 28-year-old man from Oldsmar, crashed into the right side of the other vehicle.

The older driver, a Palm Harbor resident, was hospitalized, while the 28-year-old man suffered minor injuries.  Troopers said both drivers had their seat belts on when the crash occurred.
