THONOTOSASSA, FL – Police are investigating a fatal crash on Morris Bridge Rd near High Meadow Ave on February 13th, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

At around 7:30 p.m., Jeffrey Shawn Stafford II, 22, was driving a Grand Cherokee on northbound Morris Bridge Rd when he attempted to pass a Pontiac on a two-lane rd and collided head-on with a Honda CRV driven by Vijay Kunani, 48.

Damyantiben Kanani, 71, was the front seat passenger in the Honda and died in the collision. Kunani and Falguni Kanani, 45, a back seat passenger, were critically injured. The two other passengers in the Honda were a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old.

Strafford’s vehicle overturned and he suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The occupants of the Pontiac and another car received minor injuries.

Strafford may face vehicular homicide and DUI manslaughter charges in connection with the crash. He told officers he smoked marijuana 90 minutes before the crash.
