LAKELAND, FL – Authorities say a vehicle being chased by a state trooper crashed in Lakeland Wednesday morning, according to Fox 13 News.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the trooper started pursuing what was described as a reckless vehicle speeding on Interstate 4 west.  During the chase, the driver crashed near the exit for Route 33, then crashed again several miles away at the exit for Socrum Loop.

A man was taken into custody following the incident. There were no immediate reports of injuries.

Traffic was affected in the area with the right lane of I-4 shut down near the scene.
