POINCIANA, FL – One person was killed and three others were injured when their sport utility vehicle crashed in Polk County early Saturday morning, the Daily Ridge reports.

The accident happened at the intersection of Poinciana Parkway and Cypress Parkway in Poinciana at about 3 a.m. According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee failed to stop at the intersection, went into a ditch on the side of the road and hit an embankment. The Jeep went airborne, then tumbled until it came to a stop at the edge of a retention pond.

The driver, identified as 39-year-old Paris Leblanc of Nashville, Tennessee, was partially ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene. Three passengers in the vehicle, ages 38. 27, and 26, sustained injuries that were not regarded as life-threatening.
