TAMPA, FL – Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver following the death of a pedestrian in Tampa on Monday night, according to WTSP.

Tampa police said the victim exited his car on North 40th Street at about 11:30 p.m. and walked into the intersection with East Hillsborough Avenue.

He was struck by a gray sedan headed west on Hillsborough Avenue, then was hit again by a motorcycle. The victim, a man in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The sedan left the area without stopping to render aid, according to police. The motorcyclist stayed at the scene before being hospitalized with minor injuries.

Fox 13 News reports the vehicle being sought has been described as a charcoal gray, newer-model sedan with heavy front-end damage, and may have been a Chevrolet Impala.

Anyone with information regarding the incident was asked to contact Tampa police.

The consequences of a pedestrian accident can become even more severe when a reckless driver leaves the scene.
