TAMPA, FL – Officers have arrested two teens for their role in a fatal collision on Adamo Dr near 50th St on July 24, according to ABC Action News.

The accident happened when Kristopher Trenker, 19, started an illegal street race with a 17-year-old male. The two raced each other at speeds up to 120 mph.

The 17-year-old driver swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle and struck a culvert. The collision caused the teen’s car to go airborne and roll over, partially ejecting a 16-year-old in the vehicle’s back seat. Rescue crews pronounced the 16-year-old dead at the scene of the accident.

Officers determined that the 17-year-old’s blood alcohol level was .08 at the time of the accident. They charged him with DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide. Trenker has been charged with vehicular homicide, operating an unregistered vehicle, and driving while a license is suspended or revoked.
