ST. PETERSBURG, FL – State troopers say a woman is facing drunk driving charges in connection with a fatal crash on the Bayside Bridge Sunday night.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, 29-year-old Shanquia Zaneta Holte of St. Petersburg has been charged with DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Holte was driving a Nissan Altima on the bridge when she lost control of the vehicle at about 11:10 p.m. Holte drove across the median and crashed into two vehicles, a Nissan Rogue and a Qipai motorcycle, according to the FHP.   Two people were killed in the wreck, a 50-year-old Palm Harbor man operating the motorcycle and a 29-year-old woman from Largo who was a passenger in the Altima.

Holte was hospitalized with minor injuries and then arrested. Troopers said her blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.

The recklessness of drunk drivers puts themselves and others at risk of accidents and serious injuries. If you or a loved one were injured or killed due to someone’s careless choice to drive while intoxicated, then you might be entitled to compensation.
