ZEPHYRHILLS, FL – A driver was arrested after a teenager riding a bicycle was struck and killed in Pasco County over the weekend.

According to Fox 13 News, 43-year-old Andrea Nadine Woods of Zephyrhills has been charged with DUI manslaughter in the case. The incident occurred on Allen Road near Happy Days Drive at about 2:15 a.m. Sunday.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a 17-year-old and a 15-year-old were riding their bicycles south in the northbound lanes of Allen Road. Woods was driving a Ford Mustang south on the roadway when she lost control of the vehicle and crossed into the northbound lanes, the FHP said.

Her vehicle then struck the 17-year-old, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers said Woods had a level of impairment that was over three times Florida’s legal limit at the time of the crash.

The teens were not wearing helmets or using bicycle lights, troopers said.
