INVERNESS, FL – Authorities are searching for the driver who struck and killed a woman making a delivery in Citrus County Thursday night, reports Fox 13 News.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the 45-year-old victim had gone to a home on South Cascade Avenue to deliver a pizza, with her SUV parked partially in the roadway and the driveway. At about 7:25 p.m., a vehicle going north on the street crashed into the open passenger side door of the SUV and the woman.

She was pronounced dead after being airlifted to Ocala Regional Hospital. The victim’s name has not yet been released.

State troopers are now trying to track down the driver who left the scene. Anyone with information about the incident was asked to contact the FHP.
