LAKELAND, FL – Authorities are investigating after a driver in Polk County was killed in an accident involving an Amtrak train. According to WTSP , the incident happened Saturday night on the tracks on Reynolds Road in Lakeland.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said 44-year-old Sandra Locke was driving a Toyota Corolla at about 7 p.m. when she apparently disregarded the railroad crossing arms that were down at the time. Locke drove around the barriers to try and cross the tracks and her car was hit by the train that was pulling ten passenger cars, investigators said.

Locke, of Lakeland, was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies said none of the train’s 94 passengers and 11 crew members were hurt in the incident.
