DADE CITY, FL – A woman is facing charges in connection with a 2020 crash in Pasco County that left two motorcycle riders dead, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

22-year-old Brooke Aline Everett of Dade City was arrested Wednesday on two counts of DUI manslaughter for the March 24 collision. It happened in the area of Fort King Road and Bozeman Road between Dade City and Zephyrhills.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Everett lost control while driving a Nissan Rogue at about 7 p.m. and skidded into the path of an oncoming Honda Goldwing motorcycle, which collided with the driver’s side of the Nissan. The operator of the motorcycle, 55-year-old John Jay Ward, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 49-year-old Patricia Pisa, passed away from her injuries at St. Joseph’s Hospital about two weeks after the crash. Both were from Dade City.

Everett and her two passengers were not injured. Troopers investigating the wreck said Everett showed signs of impairment, and a blood sample indicated she had amphetamines and methamphetamines in her system at the time. She was taken into custody at her home and booked into the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center.
