TAMPA, FL – State troopers in Tampa say a man who left the scene of an accident has now turned himself in and will face charges.

According to The Suncoast News, 35-year-old Stephen Strader surrendered in connection with the incident that occurred on Saturday night shortly after 9 p.m. The Florida Highway Patrol said Strader was speeding in a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck when he lost control on an exit ramp from Interstate 275 to Fletcher Avenue. The pickup went off the road, crashed into a fence, crossed over Central Avenue and struck a utility pole.

According to reports, part of the pole went through the truck’s windshield while another part fell to the ground and caught fire. The FHP said the pickup kept going, and hit another fence and a tree.

Strader, a Zephyrhills resident, allegedly fled on foot after the wreck. He surrendered Monday morning and is now charged with leaving the scene of a crash with property damage. He also reportedly faces two felony battery warrants from Pasco County.
