MANATEE COUNTY, FL – State troopers say a woman riding in an SUV died after the vehicle crashed in Manatee County Saturday morning.
According to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune , the victim was a 62-year-old woman who was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a 58-year-old Summerfield man on Interstate 75. The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver was headed south on I-75 at about 8:45 a.m. when he swerved to avoid an object in the roadway at mile marker 221. The SUV rotated and overturned, and the woman, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle. She was transported to Blake Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
The driver was seriously injured in the wreck, which is under investigation by the FHP.
