What to do after an auto accident

Always call a deputy to the scene.  The insurance company will put a lot of weight into their report.  If you aren’t at fault, you want a deputy to determine that so the other party doesn’t change their statement later to their insurance company.

Start gathering evidence.  First use your phone to take pictures of the scene, property damage and any visible injuries.

Use your phone to video the property damage, scene AND testimony from any witnesses and at fault driver.  Make sure to have them acknowledge their agreement to be recorded on video first.

Look around to see if there are any cameras from businesses, ring doorbells or dashcams.
