EAST LAKE, FL – A single-vehicle accident near Lake Tarpon in Pinellas County Saturday morning killed a 21-year-old driver, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
The man was driving on Highpoint Drive in the vicinity of Mira Vista Drive in East Lake when the crash occurred shortly before 4 a.m. The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver was going at a high rate of speed while trying to negotiate a curve when he went off the road. The sedan collided with a tree and the driver suffered fatal injuries at the scene.
The victim was a Palm Harbor resident whose name was not released. The FHP said he was wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred.
