PINELLAS PARK, FL – Police in Pinellas Park responded to the scene of a crash that sent five people to the hospital on Wednesday morning.
According to ABC Action News, an SUV slammed into a tree in the median in the 9000 block of 49th Street North sometime before 5:30 a.m. All five people inside the vehicle sustained serious injuries, police said.
49th Street was shut down in both directions near the scene for several hours, with traffic diverted at 94th Avenue and 86th Avenue. Some northbound and southbound traffic resumed shortly after 10 a.m.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
