ST. PETERSBURG, FL – A woman was struck and killed by a car while walking on a street in St. Petersburg Saturday night, Patch reports.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the victim was hit by a sedan that was heading east on 62nd Avenue North near 42nd Street North at about 11 p.m.  The pedestrian had been trying to cross 62nd Avenue North and was not in the crosswalk when she was hit, the FHP said.

She was pronounced dead at a hospital.  The victim was a 65-year-old Pinellas Park woman whose name has not yet been released.

The vehicle involved in the accident was driven by a St. Petersburg woman.
