Crash on Sand Key Bridge in Clearwater critically injures motorcyclist

CLEARWATER, FL – A motorcyclist was critically injured in an accident on a bridge in Clearwater early Thursday morning, Fox 13 News reports.

Police said a 35-year-old man was riding southbound on the Sand Key Bridge when the crash happened at about 12:41 a.m. The motorcycle rider, whose name was not released, was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg for treatment. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The incident is under investigation by Clearwater police, who said speed and impairment may have been contributing factors.
