GIBSONTON, FL – A man was fatally struck by a semi-truck while assisting people involved in a multi-car collision Monday, Fox 13 reports.
The 19-year-old driver of a black Toyota was on southbound I-75 when he rear-ended a semi-truck driven by a 57-year-old man. The impact caused the Toyota to overturn onto its side. The semi-truck driver stopped on the outside shoulder of I-75.
Troopers say that as this was happening, the 27-year-old driver of a white Toyota stopped to avoid the collision and rear-ended a tan Ford.
A 28-year-old Lexus driver stopped to help those involved in the collision when a semi-truck rear-ended the white Toyota, which propelled it into the tan Ford, which then struck the Lexus driver as he was outside his vehicle. He died from his injuries.
The semi-truck drivers were not injured in the incident. The drivers of the cars suffered minor injuries.
