SARASOTA COUNTY, FL – State troopers are investigating a hit-and-run incident on Interstate 75 in Sarasota County that left a driver hospitalized, according to WTSP.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver was standing outside their car after stopping on the right shoulder of I-75 north shortly before midnight on Saturday. After opening the car’s door, the person was struck by a Ford truck that was going north in the right lane of I-75. The driver of the car was seriously injured and rushed to a local hospital.
The FHP is now trying to locate the driver of the truck, which was believed to be dark-colored with damage to the right side and right front headlight. Anyone with information regarding the incident was asked to contact the FHP or Sarasota County Crime Stoppers.
